It varies from client to client — pricing is genuinely different for everyone, because everyone's situation and the strategies we implement are different. It depends on how complex things are: multiple businesses and rentals look very different from a straightforward W-2 and a 1040, and filing cost varies right along with it. No — I'm a tax strategist. There's a difference. A CPA's job is to file an accurate return. My job is to make sure you're paying as little as legally possible before we ever get to filing. I attend several events a year where the top tax strategists, CPAs, and EAs in the country come together — so I'm always current on the newest strategies and IRS code changes. I'm also working toward my EA (Enrolled Agent) designation, which I expect to have within the next year and a half. Once I have it, I'll be able to fully represent clients in the event of an audit. That said, I collaborate closely with CPAs — I have a licensed CPA who reviews everything for compliance and handles filing — so you get a proactive, thorough strategy and a clean, accurate return.
